Overview

In Maharashtra, the mission is implemented through Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) under the guidance of Urban Development Department – 2, ensuring targeted support to the urban poor, women, and vulnerable sections.
The mission also provides shelters for the urban homeless with essential services such as food, healthcare, and sanitation in a phased manner. Additionally, it addresses the livelihood needs of urban street vendors by facilitating access to designated vending zones, institutional credit, social security schemes, and skill development programs, enabling them to benefit from emerging market opportunities.
Overall, the mission promotes inclusive urban development and financial independence among the urban poor in Maharashtra.
