Overview
Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) was officially launched on 2nd October, 2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi by Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. It is India’s largest cleanliness drive. Swachh Maharashtra Mission (Urban) was inspired on the basis of Swachh Bharat Mission. The same is being implemented by Swachh Maharashtra Mission Directorate.
Swachh Maharashtra Mission (Urban) 2.0
Swachh Maharashtra Mission (Urban) 2.0, launched on October 1, 2021, is a five-year initiative aimed at achieving Garbage Free Status for all cities. The vision includes 100% source segregation, door-to-door waste collection, utilizing the principles of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), scientific processing of all types of municipal solid & liquid waste and remediation of legacy dumpsites for effective solid waste management.
