- Shirur Municipal Council has secured first place at the state level in both Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 4.0 and 5.0 conducted by the State Government's Environment and Climate Change Department in the population group of 25 to 50 thousand. The information about various environmental-friendly activities, public awareness programs and various competitions implemented by Shirur Municipal Council in the city under Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan is as follows.
- Tree plantation was done using the Miyawaki method at Siddhicha Pahad in Shirur Municipal Council limits. 1560 plants of 66 different types were planted in an area of 25 gunthas. This includes flower trees, fruit trees, medicinal plants, large trees useful for wood, small deciduous trees, etc.
- Also, a large number of indigenous species of trees have been planted in 80 acres of land of the Forest Department through the Shirur Municipal Council and Vishweshwar Social Forestry Organization. These mainly include Peepal, Neem, and Vad trees.

- Air quality is being monitored by installing machines at three locations within the municipal limits for 24 hours and air quality is being monitored before and after the morning rush hour. Also, a permanent public digital display has been installed at 02 locations by the municipal council.
- Property owners with Rain Water Harvesting have been given a 5% tax discount. Therefore, awareness is being created about Rain Water Harvesting at as many places as possible in the city.
- To prevent pollution of the Ghodnadi River flowing through Shirur Municipal Council, an idol collection initiative is implemented by Shirur Municipal Council during the Ganeshotsav period. In this, the Municipal Council appeals to the citizens to collect the idols without immersing them in the river. The collected idols are sent for recycling. The citizens who are given the idol collection are being given an environment ambassador certificate by the Municipal Council. Also, awareness is being created about making eco-friendly idols and immersing them in artificial immersion tanks.
- The Shirur Municipal Council has installed LED lights and solar lights in all public places in the city.
- Property owners with solar panels have been given a 2% tax exemption. Therefore, awareness is being created about installing solar panels in as many places as possible in the city.
- To create awareness about the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, Shirur Municipal Council has organized painting, rangoli, waste to best and other competitions among school students/citizens.
- All schools within the Shirur Municipal Council area have been registered in the Environmental Service Scheme, and under this, activities such as preparing seed balls, evaluating water consumption, and studying energy meters have been undertaken in the schools.
- Promotion points have been set up at 22 places within the Shirur Municipal Council limits to promote and publicize the Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan. In this, sculptures have been created from waste materials.
- Through Shirur Municipal Council, awareness is being created in the city regarding plastic ban, e-waste collection, seed collection, noise pollution, firecracker ban, environmental change, disaster management, use of renewable energy sources, cool roofs, promotion of sustainable festivals, rainwater harvesting, Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan, etc.
