The Urban Development Department–2 (UD-2), Government of Maharashtra, is responsible for urban governance, municipal administration, civic infrastructure development, and fire and emergency services across the State.
Maharashtra is among the most urbanized states in India. Rapid urbanization has increased the demand for efficient civic services, infrastructure development, urban planning, environmental management, disaster preparedness, and improved quality of life.
